So if you go to visibilty graphics and look at the filter tab you ll see a filter created which shows any pipe as dashed if it is below the elevation of 0 0.

You notice when placing revit component families some display above the view cut plane while others like specialty equipment do not. Overlay the roof plan and this celing plan on the sheet they will snap align. And now i need to set it s underlay to show the roof element. The dashed lines that you are seeing in this plan are actually the edges of the roof element.

Alternatively create a new ceiling plan cut just below the eaves that shows only walls and rooves with wall display overridden to dashed. A customer wanted to show bathroom fittings that are behind a wall in elevation so that they can plan the drainage piping for each fitting. Use an underlay in the view where you want to see objects either above or below. Once the underlay of the correct level is turned on set it to either floor plan or reflected ceiling plan orientation.

In order to enable different view representations make sure that the option show family pre cut in plan views in the structural beam family is unchecked. It is just that now they are set to be visible rather than. The revit tool you would use to show the fittings behind the wall is on the view tab graphics panel and the tools are show hidden lines and then the opposite remove hidden lines. You can draw your eaves dimensions on the ceiling plan. Thankfully within revit there is a far more elegant solution to this problem and that is the linework tool. Showing beams and columns dashed below or above.
