Replace 1 Piece Of Vinyl Siding

Tom uses a zip tool to reinstall vinyl siding which can be found at the local home center.

Replace 1 piece of vinyl siding.

Using the zip tool lock the piece of siding above the new piece down. The vinyl siding zip tool will save you loads of time. If you only remove one piece you might be able to cover the area with a tarp to protect it until you replace the piece. Starting at one end of the damaged piece push the end of the zip siding removal tool up under the siding until you feel it hook the bottom lip.

15 minute vinyl siding repair with a zip tool. Hang new vinyl siding or some other type of siding as soon as possible to avoid damage to the exterior wall of your house. Near the old nail holes every 16 or so hammer 1 1 4 roofing nails into the new piece of siding to hold it in place. Be sure to leave a bit of space between the nail heads and the siding so the vinyl can expand and contract as necessary during temperature fluctuations.

Measure the area you uncovered so you know what size replacement piece you need. Slide the zip tool along the bottom edge to release the vinyl siding from the piece below it. To lock the final piece in place use a zip tool.
