Joe is working on a carpet removal project now he is ready to.
Removing carpet tack strips from wood floors.
The procedure for removal of both these adhesives is the same but the products used are not.
Sweep the entire floor as soon as the tack strips have all been removed.
You may also need to remove your carpet if you have hardwood floors underneath that you would like to refinish.
After pulling up your carpet you will most likely have tack strips left around the perimeter of the room.
For safety place each strip in a box or trash can as you remove it.
A lot of times i can just use the pliers to get the staples up but some staples are so close to the floor that i need to use the wonder tool to get them started.
In order to have that beautiful hardwood floor you need to keep in mind that there are two types of glues that are used when putting down a carpet general carpet adhesive and tar based glue.
Once you have all of the tack strips up it is time to remove any staples on the floor from the carpet pad.
I love using the wonder tool and these pliers for this job.
This will avoid damage to the hardwood floors from grit and debris trapped beneath the tack strips.
